Obituary of Charles Yacho Ighorewo

Charles Yacho Ighorewo December 5, 1969 – June 25, 2020. Charles Yacho Ighorewo was the eldest child of John and Eunice Ighorewo. Brother of 2 siblings; Andrew Ighorewo and Stella Okeiyi (O’Brien). His family emigrated to Canada from Nigeria when Charles was 6 years old. His first home in Canada was in the city of Ottawa where he spent almost 20 years of his life after arriving. Much of his formative years was spent playing a variety of sports including basketball, football and track and field in school and community clubs. Along the way, Charles developed a special passion for American Football and his heart belonged to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He graduated from Gloucester High School and then attended the University of Ottawa. After spending some time in post-secondary school Charles made the decision to head West to Vancouver British Columbia where he would spend the next 15 years of his life. During his time out west, Charles formed many life-long friendships and renewed his love of outdoor adventures. He moved to Calgary for 3 years after leaving Vancouver and returned to his hometown of Ottawa thereafter. Charles continued his community involvement in the Ottawa area by volunteering as a football coach, youth mentor and Big Brother. Charles is dearly missed by his many close friends whom he spent much time bonding in closeness and sharing the joys and adversities of life. Charles is survived by his 2 sons; Patrice Piché, Chas Verrier and 2 daughters; Chelsey Gervais and Desiree Lister. Memorial arrangements were altered due to safety restrictions brought upon by the COVID-19 pandemic. A zoom funeral was held on July 4th with 100’s of friends and family connecting from across 3 continents to honour the memory of Charles. His ashes were laid to rest on a sunny day in July at one of his favorite spots along the Ottawa River in Orleans Ontario. Rest in peace until we met again. Revelation 21: 3, 4.
