I have many, many fond memories of Charles. I loved him very much and he filled my life with such joy and happiness. I feel blessed to have been part of his life, even if it was for far too short a time.
I think what always struck me about Charles was how honest and open he was. He never hid behind illusory masks. He told you who he was and what mattered to him. It takes a strong individual to be unapologetic about where they've been, what they've endured and who they are because of it.
Charles was a loyal and devoted son and cared deeply for his family and many close friends. He truly understood that people, not things, make a life complete and in this way he was an example to us all.
Charles cherished the connections he worked hard to create and maintain. He threw himself into life, not afraid to experience pains and pleasures. This takes courage!
His too short life was not spent idly. He lived fully and passionately. Charles recognized each day for the gift that it was.
For me, it is the quiet, peaceful moments, usually in nature and on long walks along the Ottawa river that are carved in my mind.
Charles, you are in my heart. I will love you always. Thank you for coming into my life. I will never forget you.
