Edwin Morton

Obituary of Edwin Morton

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved father, Edwin Harold Morton, on Friday, April 17th, 2020 at the age of 68. Edwin leaves behind his three children, Tanya (Ottawa), Natasha (Vancouver), and Sean (London, UK). He will be fondly remembered and missed by his partner of 13 years, Susan Leclerc, as well as his family in the UK whom he cherished. Edwin had a gift for creating long lasting bonds with the people in his life and will be sorely missed by the many friends he had made throughout the years. Edwin was born in London, United Kingdom, on the May 26th, 1951. Edwin grew up in the United Kingdom and graduated from the University of Kent. He is predeceased by his father Harold, mother Elsie, along with his sister Margaret and half-brother David. Edwin was an Electrical Engineer, and his work was a passion that took him around the world. His strong, confident and determined work ethic defined him and allowed him many great opportunities and connections. Edwin was a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology for over forty years and he served on Council in various positions. Edwin took pride in sharing his expertise and volunteered his time on many community boards in Ottawa throughout the years. Amongst those, he was a founding member of “Friends of the Mer Bleue.” throughout the years. Edwin in his prime was an avid squash player and loved to be outdoors, and his passion for gardening surely granted him a green thumb. He was a man of great wit and charisma; his ability to charm a room with his puns and clever thoughts is something we hope is a happy memory that lives on through the people he knew. Edwin had a great love of music and photography and shared his love with his children at an early age, instilling in them only the best of British classics. In the last few years of his life, Edwin began to struggle with chronic hip pain which progressed and took away his mobility and ability to do the things he loved. The pain became an everyday struggle that grew physically and mentally debilitating. We would like to thank all the friends and family members who continually supported Edwin and his family throughout the years. Your outreach of love and support is greatly appreciated. Edwin will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers we have included a link for donation to the Ottawa Crisis Line. Thank you. https://www.dcottawa.on.ca/donate/
