Dear Maureen, Justin, and Aaron:
Please accept my sincerest condolences upon Wayne's Passing! I was Wayne's football coach at E.H.S. during the years 1967-69. Wayne played offensive end. Being younger than his brother Doug, who was our Quarterback, Wayne didn't get to play much but was a member of the 1969 football team that beat Sudbury High School, a feat that has never been matched by any EHS football team, since.
Wayne always impressed me with his Spirit. He will be sorely missed by all of us who knew him.
The Last time I talked with Wayne was at a reunion years ago at EHS. At that Time, his son Aaron was the quarterback of the University of Ottawa, GEE- GEE's. I told him how proud I was to watch Aaron play one Saturday Afternoon on CBC.Wayne reflected my pride!
I didn't know that Wayne was a Bobby Orr Fan! Sometime I wish to send you a poem written by a very close friend named, " The Bobby Orr Song" If you could send me your Mailing address I will be happy to share this with you.
In the meantime, May God Bless All of you , Always.
Sincerely
Ken Naples { Teacher of Math and Science E.H.S. 1967- 1998}

My condolences to the Colbon family and friends. At the risk of sounding ancient, I babysat Wayne when I was a teen in Espanola. We connected on Facebook six years ago when he noticed that my husband and I were celebrating our 50th Anniversary. He attended our celebration in Russell, Ontaro. May Wayne rest in peace, and may God bless and comfort his family.

Our thoughts are with you. Wayne & I were childhood friends. We had great times with the other kids riding our bikes, swimming, playing hockey in the winter and generally having fun. He had a great sense of humour. We'd be hanging around and when we weren't looking he flipped his eyelids and we'd all laugh. That was a pretty impressive skill when your kids. We always had fun with Wayne. He was always interested in other people. When we were out having beers Wayne was usually the person to break the ice with others we just met. He enjoyed meeting new people.
When ever I heard news about Wayne it always included how proud he was of his children family.
Rest in peace Wayne.

To the Colbon family and friends
I’m Terribly sorry to have heard the passing of Wayne, my deepest condolences' and sympathy to everyone in the families. I worked with Wayne in the past and also before he retired.
My memories of Wayne go’s back to the very early days (80s) when we both worked for Health and Welfare Canada of the Income Security Programs / Canada Pension Plan Division / Record of Earnings Section.
We also had a weekly Ice Hockey pick up game after work at times put together by our colleagues and over the years we participated friends’ from work , it was played at the Lions arena which is no longer there around Scott street Ottawa and Macnab Arena, we ended up on same lines , and he always appreciated a good game and especially if I passed the puck to him for goals, we also ended up after work for baseball and some golf tournaments .
On many occasions as years passed by as we moved around different division’s our conversations were mostly based on sports, we always compared notes on sports of any level as his 2 sons were involved as mine were from hockey, baseball, football to soccer , education and most important family values..
His dedication to work was priority as his family , and he strived on fairness in work place and merit to those who deserved it most , we shared great ideas on how to improve work performance and recognition in work place and merit and that everyone is important and appreciated this is some of what I remember from Wayne , a very passionate good hearted person ,and always made sure to say Hi! when he saw you , he made sure to stop and ask how’s work, family and did you see that game last night, always with a smile and at times followed by a chuckle Wayne’s way.
God Bless family and may his memories live on.
Sincerely work Colleague, Nick Pizzo /Retired from Service Canada

Maureen, Justin and Aaron this is a sad but gracious time, growing up I was very fortunate to have the Colbon’s, Doug and Wayne in my life. We shared a lot of family times together. Wayne got all the hand me downs, ripped jeans, socks with holes and broken toys which he delightfully accepted, or so we thought. Then as we got older I found the drug store steps, only to be booted off several times by whom I thought was my dear cousin, the Wayner, vice president of Robinson’s Drug Store. Not only that, when I returned he followed it up with “l know your Grandmother”. She had a special fondness for him, we were so lucky to have such good times, family and friends. A lots of things we take for granted, Bless you Wayne

Wayne lived on the same street as me on Avery Drive in Espanola. He was a part of the neighbourhood gang.
He was a really fun kid with a great sense of humour. Always laughing and teasing in a nice way. He really cared for his friends in Espanola.
When he found me years later on Facebook, I was so pleased to hear from him. As an adult, he hadn’t changed one bit. He was still so caring and full of fun and energy.
Wayne really loved his family and was so very, very proud of his sons. You had a great father.
Well, I will miss talking to him on Facebook but Wayne, I will see you again on the other side and we will laugh again.

Wow! what sad news. Offering my most sincere condolences to Maureen, Justin and Aaron. When you get a diagnosis like wayne's you know that you have to prepare yourself for the sadness and heartbreak that is going to come sooner rather than later, but honestly the shock is no less hard to bare. He has gone way too soon. I like others that have posted I know Wayne from high school, and remember that he most often wore a smile and managed to spread the laughter. Wayne was always ready to be Mr. Entertainment. Many of us learned how to play euchre in the common room, and we cannot forget the wolves corner where a handful of guys congregated to watch the girls go by. He was a fixture at the teen dances where you could find him on the floor doing "the gator" or whatever it was called. Nothing gave Wayne more pride than talking and bragging about his boys. It was great to reconnect on fb, Wayne never passed up the opportunity to catch up with old friends. That is where he told me about his diagnosis. I knew well what ALS was all about. He was a true sportsman, whether he was a star player or fan. He was so proud of the picture of Doug with Bobby Orr. He never stopped posting pictures of his hometown, swim meets football, and hockey. His dog Tanner was often a topic. Thank you Maureen for opening your door when I dropped by with my son. I think we both enjoyed it. When he could no longer post I would send messages and Aaron would let me know that when they were read to him, he would smile. So now his journey here is done, remember his legacy of strong family bonds.I will take comfort in believing that he has been reunited with two of his favorite people-his mom and dad. Memories will help when you miss him most. He won't be forgotten and will be missed. Godspeed Wayne on angels wings

Wayne and I have known each other for a very long time. We were born in Espanola Hospital 5 days apart. Our parents were great friends. Although we didn’t see each other often after high school, we reconnected on Facebook and kept in touch. I knew when he wasn’t posting on Facebook anymore, that the disease must have taken that away from him. In his public persona, he was always smiling and positive. He would occasionally describe some of his symptoms in private messages, but never really complained. I guess because he knew his time was limited, he had a tendency to focus on the past and loved taking trips down memory lane, posting pics, and reminiscing about our childhood and teenage adventures and hangouts. A lot of us enjoyed this with him. It was also obvious how much he loved and was proud of his family. My condolences go out to all of you now. Rest In Peace Wayne! Pat Tait

All of the kids seemed to be together most of the time and it seems so impossible that young Wayne could be gone so young. As I read in a previous condolence the Colbon family was well known and respected in Espanola. I still describe their home on the corner as (Colbons House). The world is a sadder place with his loss.
