Brent Clary

Obituary of Brent Clary

“THE LIFE WE LIVE IS THE LEGACY WE LEAVE. LIVE WITH KINDNESS” Brent Clary, 54, passed away August 31st, 2016 knowing his wife Tracey of 22 years, and his children Connor and Liana loved him beyond words. His sister Linda Clary of Thunder Bay survives Brent. Brent was a fun, loving uncle to many nieces and nephews, a brother in-law, a friend and a co-worker. Brent left his hometown of Manitouwadge, ON to attend Carleton University and earned a degree in Economics. He began his career with the City of Ottawa where he worked for 13 years, but for the past 18 years he had the privilege of working for NAV CANADA as the Director of Labour Relations and Human Resources. Brent was known for his active lifestyle and you would often see him running in his neighborhood in Orleans or on his way to play a round of golf. He enjoyed playing hockey on Friday evenings, which was always followed by wings and beer at Johnny Canucks. He enjoyed coaching his son and many of his friends in Cumberland IP and later on for the Grads. You would also find Brent along the sidelines cheering his daughter Liana in Cobra soccer and occasionally offering constructive criticism to the ref. He was a true fan of the Philadelphia Flyers, Buffalo Bills, musical band Queen and summer visits at Polly Lake. Brent always enjoyed a great meal and could easily recount every element of the food; even though the simplest details of a conversation with his wife could be missed. He never shied away from trying new things even if it meant riding roller coasters with his kids and conquering his fear of heights. Brent valued loyalty at work and with his friendships, which resided the most with his treasured friends Helena and Alex, Lucian and Brenda, Connie and Gary, Louise and Mike, Khalid, and Shammy. Most of all, he was grateful to his sister in-law Lisa and her husband Mike who consistently went above and beyond. Brent wishes were that people would remember him most for being a good person. He asked for donations to be made in his memory to the Leukemia/ Lymphoma Society or the Light the Night Walk in October. Most importantly NAV CANADA is establishing a scholarship In memory of Brent and his exceptional contribution to furthering Human Resources programs. The scholarship in honor of Brent is for students excelling in either Economics or Human Resource studies. Students will be able to apply through the annual NAV CANADA scholarship program. Donations can be made online at http://www.gofundme.com/brent.clary or by cheque, payable to NAV CANADA.
