How do you put work D’Arcy into words? It’ll be tough, but we can give it a shot. D’Arcy was the colleague everyone hoped to work alongside. Not only because he was such a handsome man, but because of the way he made you feel: relevant, cheerful, relaxed; and the way those feelings lingered long after the work day had ended. His distinctive demeanor – which has been compared to the likes of Matthew McConaughey – was invigorating and admired; we know very few people who receive applause while strolling in late to team meetings! When D’Arcy asked how your day was going, he meant it, asking because he genuinely wanted to know. When he thanked you for something, he meant that, too. He consistently expressed appreciation and rendered credit whenever it was warranted. His mere presence persuaded even the most stressed colleague to pause and reevaluate. He was adored by his patients, from those at the Rehabilitation Centre to the Champlain LHIN, and all of those in between. He demonstrated such empathy for his patients, a level to which we should all aspire. His laid-back nature was so infectious, effortlessly putting both his patients and his colleagues at ease. Though D’Arcy was very hard-working, professional and knowledgeable in his field, he never passed up the opportunity to remind those around him that this is but a job – it is not your life. If you met D’Arcy once, you remembered him always. He has left behind wonderful memories that we as a team and as individuals will continue to hold close to our hearts. D’Arcy’s effervescence, his « joie de vivre », his outlook on life, will not soon be forgotten. Rest in peace, our dear D’Arcy…hockey stick in hand, donning your Bermuda shorts, with flip-flops on and your feet up ♥

I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I work at the organization at which D'Arcy was employed for the last 18 years and I can tell you his colleagues are very disheartened and saddened by the loss of their beloved co-worker. Losing such a valued friend and co-worker is challenging at any time, but I believe even more so when that person was still young and full of life. D'Arcy changed his team mates forever, and I know he will not be forgotten.

I was so very saddened and shocked to have heard about D'Arcy's passing. I had worked with him at CCAC, and his dedication and pride in his work was evident in all that he did. Anyone who was fortunate enough to have him as their advocate was in the best hands. His kindness, caring and compassion is what made him one of the best. He loved his family very much and was so proud of his children. Please accept my heartfelt condolences on his passing and although this loss will be difficult to bear, I hope that the wonderful memories that you shared will replace the tears and sadness with smiles as you remember him and warmth as you feel his presence. A wonderful man gone too soon, but may the many wonderful memories shared by all who knew him help them through this very sad time. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
