Fred will be forever missed and lovingly remembered by all his friends especially John Tessier and John Scullion. Above all else, Fred’s family was most important to him. He loved them all deeply. Fred leaves behind a devoted extended family who visited him regularly and offered their support throughout his illness. These family members include his brother and best friend, John Cundell (Patricia Newton) of Cundell Stables and his oldest brother Bill (Donna Fraser) in Clermont, Florida. Fred will be lovingly remembered by his many nieces and nephews, Jason Cundell (Veronica), Shelly Cundell (Greg Stevenson), James Cundell, Tayler Cundell (Chris Tombs) Cheyenne Cundell, Melanie and Jessica Roy, Koleson, Kashton, Archer, Dayton, Mimi and Nate. A special thankyou goes to his niece, Julie Roy and to his nephew, Guy Roy for all their assistance, support and selflessness throughout Fred’s illness. Fred Cundell grew up at Cundell Stables in the market area of Ottawa. He was an athlete all his life and played hockey as a goalie. He played lacrosse competitively for the Oshawa Green Gaels and won the Minto Cup. He was inducted into the Lacrosse Hall of Fame in 1992. Fred was drafted to the Syracuse Stingers in the NLL. He declined the draft which turned out to be a wise decision and instead chose plumbing as a profession. Fred became a master plumber and the owner and operator of Fred Cundell Plumbing and Heating Ltd. for over 45 years. He was a successful and well-respected businessman in the community and because of his success, Cundell Plumbing and Heating Ltd. will continue in his name. Fred enjoyed a simple life of travel, gardening, the casino, eating in the best restaurants, attending the fairs, watching hockey, football, soccer, lacrosse and spending time with Joanne, his extended family, and his faithful dog, Henrietta. A special thank you goes out to Dr. Whetter, Dr. Gow, The Palliative Team, nurses Jennifer, Monica, Jessica and the PSW’s who assisted in Fred’s excellent care. If friends or family wish to remember Fred, a donation to the Humane Society or to the Cancer Society in his name would be appreciated.
