Mary Dashney

Obituary of Mary Dashney

Mary Margaret Dashney (nee Dunning) passed away suddenly after a brief illness on October 23rd at Hôpital Montfort in Ottawa in her 85th year. Beloved wife of Edwin (Ted) Dashney of Navan. Loving mother of Shirley, Karen and son-in-law Cliff Smith. Sadly missed by her two grandchildren Mitchell and Courtenay Smith. Sister-in-law to Helen Wilson (Merrill) and Arnold Dashney (Leona). An only child, she became the centre of a large extended family of friends and relatives whom she loved dearly. She was a mainstay of the Navan community, devoting her endless energies to the people and town that she loved, in particular being a committed member of St Mary’s Anglican Church and a Lifetime Member of the Navan Women’s Institute. Mary will be remembered as the best cook, seamstress, gardener, community person, church supporter, wife, mother and nanny that anyone could ask for. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to St. Mary’s Anglican Church or a charity of your choice. Due to Covid-19, a private service and burial have taken place. She may have been small in stature but was mighty to the end.
