Obituary of Trevor Miazga

It is with immense sadness that I inform family and friends of the passing of my son, Trevor Miazga, at 32 years of age. Trevor was born in Regina Saskatchewan on November 13, 1987 and died on July 21, 2020 after a tough tough fight against cancer. He was among family and friends at our home in Cumberland Ontario, where he wanted to be. Trevor was a strong minded and free spirited guy from the get go, what a kid! There was no playbook to help guide us as parents, those who knew him will remember his unique tendencies and being one never to conform. Rather he was an individual that walked to the beat of his own drum. We will continue to enjoy “Trevor stories” and laugh about the various scrapes he got into forever. My son was also a loving and sensitive individual, deep down inside he was one of the biggest softies you could find and he had a big heart. He loved his family and friends and would give anyone the shirt off his back. Trevor’s repertoire of talents included: trampolining (dazzling us with various flips); skateboarding (fun times and a few hairy moments); downhill ski racing (expert skier known for his jumping abilities); taekwondo (red-black belt); cooking and baking (restaurant work and home in the kitchen); and building and construction. He loved camping and fishing, in his spare time you could find him on his kayak or he would don his work gear and climb trees. He also loved his many special tattoos. My son was very fortunate to have found his calling when he embarked on his career as a tree climber. He loved his work, his talent and abilities were exceptional and the sheer strength required to do the job he did was awe inspiring. One of his claims to fame was the rescue of baby owls on Petrie Island in the midst of an ice storm in April of 2018. Putting himself at risk to complete that mission was classic Trevor and a testament to his skills and selflessness. Trevor was also a very well-travelled young man, he enjoyed three trips to Australia encompassing many locations and time spent with his extended family. Part of his heart was always in Australia where his father and half-brother live, and he had Australian citizenship. He experienced New Zealand, Hong Kong, Macau, Hawaii, Disneyworld, Jamaica, and travelled almost all the way across Canada. We enjoyed numerous ski resorts in Canada and the US for both race training and family trips, most notably our family favorite destination of Whitefish Montana. Trevor was pre-deceased by his maternal grandfather, Victor Miazga, and is survived by his mother Barbara Miazga, step-father George Wasyliw, father Glenn Davis, half-brother Dalton Davis (Jess), maternal grandmother Alice Rogal, paternal grandmother Ayleen Neald, nieces, a nephew, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. My beautiful baby boy is gone, I will never forget his incredible blue eyes, signature eyebrows, and that indomitable energy and spirit. He will always be with us in our hearts, we are devastated by our loss.
