It was heartbreaking to hear of Gilbert's passing. We moved into the neighbourhood in early 1996 and the Bourdeau family have been great neighbours. Gilbert was always willing to help anyone with any type of maintenance issue. I once drilled through a wire in my garage and he immediately repaired it for me. After his retirement we got used to seeing him around the house doing various chores. He was a very proud homeowner and a kind and generous man. He often helped cut our front lawn or clear the snow off of our driveway. Every time we look into the backyard from our deck, we expect to see him. He will be deeply missed, but his example of being a good neighbour will live on.
To Helene and the Bourdeau Family, please accept our deepest sympathies.

Gilles watched me grow up, knew me my whole life. I am 30 years old. He was like a Grandfather to me. He was a neighbour. Everytime he saw me outside at my parents, or walking my dog King (his dog Peanuts boyfriend) he would always tease me asking when I'm getting married so he could be there & eat cake, for years! He had just asked me that a couple days prior to his sudden passing. I still can't believe it. I'm definitely going to miss him. He was a good guy! R.I.P

Helene and family: It is with deepest sympathy that I send this note of condolence for your loss of Gil. When I think back in time, I really do not remember when I met Gil, but I think I was around 10 years old, so I keep him in memory as one of those dear souls that you are privileged to meet in life. Gil was a wonderful neighbor of ours for over 30 years. He was friendly and caring, never hesitating to lend a helping hand, Gil was proud of his residential community, always embracing and welcoming new families who moved close by.
He was a loving family man, always speaking so kindly about his wife Helene and their years of marriage. Gil would always speak of his kids and grand kids, with a spark in his voice, beaming about their personal accomplishments. He was so proud of his family, understanding the importance of family values.
Gil was never far from his front porch, and took on the unofficial title of our neighborhood watch ears and eyes. He was a good man and will be missed by many.

C'est avec tristesse que nous avons appris le décès de votre père Lynn et Julie, beau-père Toni et Eric, et grand-papa Marie-Hélène, Émanuela, Arianne et Sophie. Sachez que nous vous gardons dans nos prières durant cette douleureuse épreuve. Lorsque la douleur est trop vive, il ne suffit que de fermer les yeux pour se remémorer de beaux souvenirs. Hélène, nous t'offrons nos sincères condoléances à toi et à toute ta famille. Nous garderons dans nos coeurs un très beau souvenir de Gilbert. Il était un homme foncièrement bon, généreux, patient et drôle, pour ne nommer que ces quelques qualités qu'il possédait. L'entraide, la bienveillance, l'empathie et l'amour des siens étaient ses principales valeurs de vie.

Lost my good neighbour who often sat in his rocker holding court watching Chenier Way. We had a lot of chats, jokes and laughter. Seems something has been lost to us all. Sorry for your lose Helene. In our prayers, Alex and Bev Geddes, 615 Chenier Way.

I have fond memories of uncle Gil at the cottage taking us tubing and boating. Great man with a good heart and values. He is greatly missed.

On July 16th the world lost a beautiful man who was warm, compassionate, caring, loving and full of life. He would always put a smile on my face. My heart is broken with the loss. One day we shall meet again and until then, I will always remember the ice creams and the chit-chats we shared together. There are no words to express just how much he meant to Steve and I. He was our friend.
