Nancy we are so sorry to hear of the passing of George. It was quite a shock to us, our thoughts and prayers are with you and the rest of your family. George was always such a beautiful soul and such a giving man who will be missed by many. You were both such a source of comfort to Steve and I our times of need, we wish we there to reciprocate. It will not be the same coming back to Ottawa and not seeing his smiling face. The picture above is perfect because every time you looked at George this is how he looked.

We are so sorry to hear of George's passing, while we know he's in a great place and we look forward to seeing him in Heaven one day it will be hard to not have him here. Nancy, you and George are such special people and made a great impact in our lives and every time we get back to Grace to visit we are so happy to connect with you it's like coming home. There is no greater legacy than to be missed and loved by those around you. George left a trail of happy people in his wake and they will all miss him. We love you both and we will miss George. Our Prayers are for you and your family that you will have peace in this time of sorrow and that your heart will be filled with all the love and memories you have together. Like my sisters Deb and Cheryl, who have posted elsewhere, I was stunned and deeply saddened to hear that George is no longer with us. As Deb remarked, he was our beloved slightly older cousin, who was old enough to babysit us - old enough to make us laugh hysterically and marvel at his clowning around. As a result of that early connection, I've always felt close to George, even during periods of years when we didn't actually see each other, and I will miss his continued efforts with family news and ongoing jesting online... George's gentle manner always reminded me so much of his Mom, our dear Aunt Ellen. He will be greatly missed, and I send my most heartfelt condolences to the entire family. - Glenn

I am so sad to hear about George's passing. George, and you Nancy, will always hold a special place in my heart as my "Canadian grandparents". I don't have specific memories of why I love George, I just remember how he made me feel as a child: loved and cared for. He was always happy to see us, had a great hug, and emanated a sense of peace, calm and safety. I remember his kindness, and the fun we had at that old house with the pool, and the breakfasts that he used to cook at Grace. I don't think I even realized as a child how special it was that George would treat us like family; I do now. No matter my age, George has always been there with a big hug and "happy to see me smile" when I was back in Ottawa for a visit. I will miss those hugs. Although he is gone from us, I have peace knowing how strong his faith was in Jesus and that he is where he has always prepared to be. He lived a life on earth worthy of eternity in heaven. My condolences to Nancy, Alison and family for the loss of an amazing husband, father and grandfather. My thoughts and prayers are also with all of those who knew George and who are now feeling the sadness of losing a friend.

Deepest condolences to Nancy, Allison and family. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have seen George last summer, it was like no time had passed. His genuine interest in all our family was so sincere, asking for more pictures on Facebook to keep up with us all. He and Nancy hold such a special place in my heart, a true example of kindness and an endless amount of love to share. He gave he best hugs and had such a warm smile. He will be truly missed by many, and will forever hold a special place in our family.

I will always love George like the Grandpa figure he was to me. He and Nancy always welcomed us. I treasure so many fantastic memories. I loved George's infectious chuckle, his gentle spirit, and how well he loved his amazing wife (what an example!). His example of Christ-like love will stay with me. Sending much love from the West Coast.

George is stuck in my memory ...happily embedded... as a great guy. I knew that from the start...even way back during the Shore Road, Alexander Street years when, as a cousin 13 years my elder, he baby sat us.... There was comfort, laughter and fun every time. We knew that this guy was trusted to do the job right and we admired and respected him. Maybe the love and admiration mom and dad had for George were part of why we had the same feelings about him. Its a long time since I saw George face to face but we kept in touch...through Face Book and because of that, the lines draw by time were obliterated. He has not changed...ever...and he\'s been strong in his faith and his devotion to that faith and his family always. May the eagle and the birdie forever find their sweet spot with you George...you will NEVER be forgotten on this end of the tree...absolutely never!

So very sorry to hear of your loss. George was a great neighbour when we were growing up on Shore Road, Sydney Mines. Our family home at 145 Shore Road is now a convent . It was the site of the family home which burned down in Nov. 1947. The Brown's were great neighbours. Please convey regards to Elaine, Devina & Stuart as well. Prayers for you his family at this very difficult time. Gordon Gordon Fraser, Vancouver, BC.

I have so many wonderful, happy memories of my friend George, his dear wife Nancy and daughter Alison, over many years. I still chuckle when I think of Grace Church's pastor, music person and their families making use of G and N's pool and BBQ while they were away in CB, only to have them come home unexpectedly! I remember George saying "I hope you have enough on the grill for us!" Mike and I will miss you very much, George... Nancy, Alison and family, our sincerest condolences on the great loss of your dear husband, dad, grandpa and brother. Wish we could be at Grace for George's celebration of life service, our love, prayers and thoughts will be with you.Water
