Our condolences to Geany, and family...we were shocked to hear the news of Ken's passing. May he rest in peace. We will miss him, while we are out and about in the Beauregard neighbourhood. Ken was such a nice neighbour to have, always willing to help when the need did arise. We will never forget you! We still cannot believe you have gone.

Geany, Steve and I are so sorry to hear about Ken's sudden passing. We will be there tomorrow morning and for the service. Ken, may there always be snow for snowmobiling, great trails for biking, beautiful water for boating forever for you. If not the some tequila shots might get you what you wish for. LOL that is my favorite memory, especially when you called my parents in Buckingham from the cottage asking them for the temperature there. They hadn't a clue who you were. For those reading, it was January or February a few years ago and Ken and Geany, Mark and Vicki were hoping for cold weather and snow to get their snowmobiles out. For every drop in temperature we took a tequila shot...it was an early night :). Farewell and we will meet again! Tammy and Steve

Beauregard Crew will never be the same. We are all still stunned by you leaving us so soon and Suddenly. Where do i begin with a man that had two of everything. At the end of the night, He always said that we couldn't say We will just have two more, because his uncle die of a tumor. Lol One of Ken's saying. So many memories with a very, very generous man with a zest for life. Newfoundland travels with whale watching and cod fishing and Ken almost buying a house on little bay island for $8900. He kept saying i can put it on my credit card. I keep telling the story of us renting atv's up at the Baskatong and we had to go to a bar to pick them up. After multiple laughs and drinks they put the keys in a bucket and shook it to pick your keys. Then Ken and Geany drove away and we had to find our way back to the cottage at 1 am. Ken brought us into his paradise life at the Baskatong with amazing days atving and boating on the lake. We had an ice fishing derby that Ken didn't want to win but he just kept pulling up fish after fish. He even stopped to BBQ us lunch and he still won. Ken was really generous that anyone around him knew. He will be sorely missed. We will have a Crown Royal on your behave. Cheers to a great friend.

My earliest memory is when I was about 5 or 6 years old at ken’s cottage at the time. He had an old furniture type record player and a single record of the « birds and the bees » he played it over and over because I liked to dance to it so much. During these years I shared a bunk bed with his Aunt Sadie. In the years since we have had many good times on four wheeler trips, snowmobile days and nights by the fire. Times filled with a laugh I will not forget. Earlier today my Dad said that Ken had the biggest Heart. He was notorious for having two of every tool in his garage. Unfortunately the only tool he did not have in his tool chest was two hearts. My Father has many other memories of Ken, almost 50 years, too many to share. George will miss his friend very much. All our love to Geany and all who loved him. Christina , Steph, Cassandra, George and Denise

30 years ago when we had no cottage but a boat a strange man approached me while I was filling up gas at the outfitter. We talked about anything and everything and soon he found out that one of my boat lights were not working due to a missing 5 cent connection part.He went to get the part and repaired it for me on the spot and was happy he could help me.This strange man at the time was Ken Shellhorn and the unheard of deep friendship lasted until today.A heart the size like the Olympic stadion in Montreal.A will to help and assist 24/7 no matter what the problem was/A man one in a million. There were only a few days in 20 years he did not come to see me,to check on me to have a crown royal or a coffee with a Baily. Every snowstorm he arrived with one of his toys a Kubota tractor and cleaned my driveway only to come in after for a coffee with Baily.Every day he arrived at my place with his 4 wheeler and his friend Colt in the back to bring veggies from their own garden a little trinket from Ottawa or a beer or 2.Every one of my visitors from Canada,Germany,(Brother Klaus and wife Gabi) The Philippines or Trinidad and Tobago he welcomed with his open heart.Nt friends were his friends. They both shared their caught fish in the lake with all the Schlieps and kept on giving with his heart.Last night 2 of my sons and myself drove over to their cottage and had one of his favourite drinks and looked into the universe where he is resting in peace right now.His truck was parked outside as if asking us Where is my driver. Today we all Schlieps have decided to do willingly something against the law.And we don\'t care about the consequences. We decided to fly my Canadian flag by my cottage at halfmast....in memory of the best friend a person walking this earth can have. Rest in peace my friend you have deserved it and we all will miss your arrival on the 4 wheeler with the words Whats going on In loving memory forever and Lake Baskatong and our Bay with 7 cottages will never be the same.................. The Schlieps Rainer C Shawn Andrew and Grace and Christopher and former wife Michele and Klaus and Gabie from Germany

I am not sure how to put my thoughts into words. Saturday we were all together having fun, laughing, playing the same music over and over ('Honey I'm Good" will never have the same meaning) and Sunday we cried without you. Now we sit together going through pictures and remembering the good times we all had together. Those memories are more valuable today then we ever thought they would be. The Beauregard Gang will remain in place and will be stronger than ever as the memory of you becomes the heart of it. We will miss you our dear friend. But you will never be forgotten. You can rest comfortably knowing that we will always be there for Geany and Colt.

I have known Ken for many years as a neighbor and first and foremost as a great friend. We have spent countless hours in our garages just talking, working on projects ( actual or makeshift ) , spending a lot of weekends at the cottage to play with anything that makes a lot of noise and burns gasoline, bushwacking, fishing, having amazing meals or sitting by the fire enjoying a good drink ( or two or three ) out of our “ Bubba’s “ while listening to Stompin’ Tom and just enjoying each other’s company. Ken has always been one the most generous persons I have met and was always willing to lend a hand. He will be sorely missed as a close personal friend and as a big part of the ‘”Beauregard Gang “ My heart goes out to Geany and his family. Klaus Abels

Never in my life have words seemed so meaningless to describe such a titan of a man and the effect of his loss. Tears are shed, hearts are broken, lives are shattered but eventually there will also be smiles adorned, laughs shouted and memories trying to fill the void left by Ken. He leaves behind a legacy of living beyond anything I could have ever imagined. Dearest friend you are missed to the depth, the breadth and height my soul can reach. You will continue to live within us and in the wilds that surround us. I will always listen carefully to each Baskatong breeze. -Andrew
