We, Mike and Marilyn Hamel, would like to offer our sincere condolences for the loss of our Beautiful Matante Aurore. We just found out about her passing today ( Mar. 26 ). I have very special memories of Matante when we had our camps at Vermillion Lake. Matante used to call me Mitch all the time which I loved. I knew I was special to her and I loved her so much! Marilyn and I visited her in her home about 3 plus years ago and although she would get confused at times regarding who we were, it was a great joy to hear her talk about my mom and dad and the good times she had with everyone at Vermillion camp. It was so nice to see her! Another good memory I have at camp is when everyone snuck over to our camp at night and started banging and scratching on the walls of our camp while we were watching tv. My dad came out with his shotgun and shot in the air and my Uncle Maurice and Matante Aurore and I believe Paullette, Robert, and Ronald started yelling "don't shoot...it's us"!! LOL, I also remember the old mine phones that my dad and Uncle Maurice installed at both of our camps. It was the coolest thing when the phone rang and when I would answer, sometimes it was Matante Aurore on the other end. She would always say " Allo Mitch"! I loved hearing her call me that! No one else called me Mitch in the entire family except my beautiful Matante Aurore. We will all miss her very much and I am praying that the Lord will have His Hand of comfort over my beloved cousins Robert and Ronald and Spouses and Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren and her sister Rose, through the great loss of my special Matante.
