Uncle Michel,
Although unconventional, my condolences are solely for your sister Helene and her family (whose names were deliberately unmentioned). Your brother Richard failed to communicate the tragic news of your passing and wittingly took away our opportunity to pay our respects and appropriately say goodbye. I wish to let you know that you were invariably in our hearts and always will be.
God would not want me to live with such hatred and animosity so I have chosen to live by your example; you exemplified forgiveness, gratitude and perseverance in light of the deplorable circumstances you were handed at such a young age.
Know that the years we spent together each Christmas were happy recollections and I adored the many art pieces and paintings you gifted me. I’ll never forget the countless hours you played crib with dad in the dining room while I sat with Grand-mère and tried my hardest to converse in French. I’ve always cherished your presence at my wedding and although this is no excuse, I am deeply sorry that raising my family came before visiting you and seeing you in the past six years…
Helene has been caring endlessly and tirelessly for your Mother for the past two decades and she has recently met you in heaven. As I kissed her forehead for the last time I whispered to her that you will be there to greet her at the gates to Heaven with Marcel and the love of her life Ubald. You are both at peace and I genuinely hold your memories in my heart.
Much love,
Carole
