Tammy, our deepest condolences to you and the boys. What I remember the most about John was his ever-smiling face. Always smiling when Zuko was taking John for a walk, he always had time to stop and have a chat. Our thoughts and prayers to you and the family.

Although John and I went to the same high school, we didn’t really know each other there, as there was a three-grade difference between us. It was several years later, when we both ended up in the Business program at Algonquin College, that we became friends, a friendship that continued for 40 years. After graduating, we both migrated to Toronto, returned to Ottawa, attended each other’s weddings, had families, developed our careers, played on a touch football team (we even won a league championship one year), shared a few beers together over the years, and we had the opportunity to stay connected over all these years, along with Rob Kilroy. It is very sad to lose a good friend that you have shared so much with over the years. As much as we, as friends, feel the loss of a good friend, we cannot fully comprehend what Tammy, Daniel and Matthew are experiencing. Just know that you are in our thoughts and prayers.
Love,
Ryck, Siobhan & Family

I am so saddened to hear of this news. John and I worked together at SHL Sytemhouse for about 3 years, around 1996-1999. A wonderful and kind man. John will be missed.

This time last week we were hanging on to your beautiful smile and words. You filled our hearts with the best possible memory when you said goodbye ... "I love you guys. I'll see you tomorrow". We'd give anything for that tomorrow to be sitting around a camp fire with that cold beer or rum and coke. We cannot begin to express the sorrow and loss that occupies our hearts. You will be missed dearly John and we will never forget you. Love Rick and Cathy ❤️

We will forever remember our great friend, his genuine heart and his infectious smile. John was a pillar in our group of neighbourhood friends. We will miss sharing drinks on the deck, hockey games and campfires. Tammy, Matthew and Daniel you have our deepest condolences on the loss of your husband and dad. We will forever remember his scrimmage games of ball hockey in the driveway and Sunday afternoon skates on the backyard rink. Our thoughts are with you , in this trying time. We sincerely hope peace finds you and your memories of John carry you through the coming days, months and years.

Tammy, Matthew and Daniel,
I am so sorry to hear of the passing of John. He was a friend of forty years (we started College together).
Together, John, Ryck and I would meet for lunch four times a year to catch up. It was always about our families first, then work and finally anything else.
John always started out talking about "The Boys". He was always a Family first person and always so very proud of all the accomplishments that Tammy and the Boys made.
It is rare to carry friendships that long but John was a very special person and I am going to miss him dearly.
Take care my friend
Rob

My heart is heavy with the loss of such a great man and friend. I remember when i came to the Knight home many years ago to nanny Matthew and Daniel... I always admired how you and John were the ultimate team. You handle those two beautiful babies with such love and togetherness. Tammy had all her wonderful lists and John was always busy making the home and everything just right for his family. I will miss seeing his smile at Christmas at our family Knight-Johnston dinners. We will miss John so much. We love you Tammy, Matthew and Daniel...,

So sorry to hear of this tragic loss. I will miss John's gentle, always friendly chats on my visits to Ottawa. So glad we had the opportunity to ski together not so many years ago. Tammy, Matthew and Daniel, you have so many wonderful memories to draw on to help work through this huge loss. I wish you serenity knowing that John is at peace.

Already miss our chats over lunch and the laughs we shared. John was a true gentleman, incredibly genuine, and one of the kindest souls I’ve ever met. His smile remains engraved inside my mind and I’m forever grateful for that gift.
