Dear Tammy, Derek and Emily,
I am so profoundly sorry for your loss. There are simply no words to express the depth of my sorrow. Nathan was in my class in grade 1 at Avalon when Sandra and I shared the class. I remember him fondly, his curiosity, creativity, sense of humor. May you find the strength to move forward, always remembering and cherishing all that he was and all that he brought to those who knew him.

Hi,
I want to first introduce myself, my name is Kathryn and I’m the mother of Kaia Stewart. She is in the French gr 8 class at Summerside. She didn’t know your son personally, only to see him around school and who he was. I just wanted to be up front about that.. we didn’t know him, however I still wanted to pass along my condolences (which can seem empty, I know) but as a parent and as a parent of a medically fragile and disabled child... I have seen the loss of friends children more than I ever would have wanted and as such really just want to say say that I am truely sorry that you, all of his family and friends have had to experience this. Your obituary was beautiful and positive and and as terrible as this is, I hope that you can keep that positive message and the spirit of his life alive. It will be hard and it’s devastating. Unfortunately the cliche is true, only time heals and the years that you had with him are worth so much more than not having had them at all. I guess all I really wanted to say is that my thoughts are with all of you.

Derek, Tammy and Emily,
It was a wonderful celebration of Nathan's life yesterday. You both showed incredible strength and grace in what is no doubt an unimaginably difficult time for all of you. The huge gathered crowd clearly showed that you and Nathan have touched and connected with many over the years. And that crowd left with a very clear understanding of who Nathan was - a fun loving, imaginative and creative boy who valued family and food (and the sauce is more important than what's underneath!). Nathan and I share a love of beef bulgogi and now that I am able to make my own passable version, I no longer have to wait patiently for Derek to bring his delicious version around to the office (although we all knew that Tammy actually made it). Our thoughts and prayers are with you all,
Peter, Valerie and family
