My deepest sympathies are with all of you at this most difficult time...
Although I only met Stephen a couple of times, I wanted to share with you the lasting impression he left with me. George and I took Stephen up to my fish camp in Quebec for an extended weekend back when Stephen was 86 or thereabouts.
When we got to the camp, the first thing that came out of his pack was his I-Pad. Two thoughts immediately came to my mind - "86 and owning an I-Pad; good on you;" followed quickly thereafter by "there isn't any internet anywhere close to here". He had it to take pictures and write some notes about the adventure.
The first thing he said to me when he woke up on the second day "I haven't slept that well in almost 50 years". We caught some fish, played some cards and shared some stories - it was a very special weekend for sure. We even cooked up some fish roe for him, but I wouldn't eat any (can you blame me).
There is a little bay on the south-west shore that extends from the "white rocks around to the fallen red pine" where Stephen caught most of his fish. George and I have named that "Stephen's Bay".
I'm sure that every fish caught in that bay will continue to bring back the fondest of memories from that weekend and of Stephen.
Rest in peace my friend,
Hugh

To my father in law that I called Dad from the day I married your son. You welcome me in your family like a daughter. George and I will miss you. I will also remember the weeks I spend with you and Therese in Florida and all the special holidays. We did not what to do on a Sunday we would go visit you and you were always happy to see us. I was fortunate to meet your family in Greece. You were always there for us. Love Suzanne xoxo

Sincere condolences from our family to yours. Memories of him maning the fire pit for lamb roasts and adjusting the counter weights. But most fondly remember him hanging out for the best cuts of lamb when I was lucky enough to be honoured with the carving. May he rest in peace.
Sincerely
Scott and Katie MacKenzie
