Marc Rouleau

Obituary of Marc Rouleau

After a life full of adventure, community service and family devotion we lost our amazing father and husband, Marc. Born in Ottawa 77 years ago, Marc was the loving husband of Judy (Parent) and treasured father of Brent (Susie), Lisa (Corey) and Chantal (Brant) and adored grandfather to Melissa, Sabrina, Brayden, Cailyn, Ryder and Jack. He is also survived by brothers Mike and Charles, sisters Claudette, Louise, Sue, Gale, Patsy, Maggie, Rollande, Réjeanne and the late Jocelyne.  Marc married Judy in Ottawa but started his long and successful radio advertising career in Brockville. They quickly integrated into the community through the Kinsmen Club and where they met and formed numerous lifelong friendships. Marc’s radio career advanced quickly and he soon moved his young family back to Ottawa where he worked for many years at the French-language CJRC radio station. While climbing the ranks of the radio executive world, Marc pursued his passion for coaching hockey and ringette in Blackburn Hamlet. Over the course of a long coaching career he was able to coach all of his children. His other passion for golf allowed him and Judy to spend many delightful days on courses all over the region. Eventually, Marc left the radio business to become a successful entrepreneur when he created Promarc Promotions. Marc always wanted to contribute to his community. He joined the Ottawa-Gloucester Sports Club to promote and support amateur sports where he once again formed so many more dear and lasting friendships. As Club President he was able to initiate countless events, tournaments and fundraising activities. He was well-known for his impeccable three-piece suits, his love for the Habs, his exquisite and elegant public speaking and his huge heart. In retirement, when Marc did not have a game of golf lined up, he put his impressive carpentry skills to use around the house and spent time refining his lesser-known but remarkable drawing skills. Later in life, Marc pursued and attained a special goal to acquire his CPGA Professional Golfer qualifications. Through it all, he devoted countless hours and so much love to Judy, his children and grandchildren, often marvelling and beaming with pride at their every achievement and accomplishments in sports or life in general. The family extends their deepest appreciation to the ICU staff at the General Hospital for their commitment to Marc’s care.  Relatives and friends are invited to the Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Road to pay their respects to the family on Monday, January 28, 2019, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.  A celebration of Marc’s life will then be held in the Heritage Funeral Complex chapel at 4 p.m. with a reception to follow Friends and family are welcome to make a contribution to the Ottawa Heart Institute in memoriam.
