Renee and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I feel truly blessed to have known Mark. When I first moved to Ottawa I dreamed I would meet fellow musicians and start a band. Mark was that musician and friend for me. Mark was the best singer in Ottawa in my eyes. When he wasn't playing volleyball or poker, we would Jam. We were at different phases in our lives, but we always had a good time and we always made time for the music which is I think what we both needed at the time.
Those live shows were some of the best periods of my 20/30s. The open mic nights, the monthly marathon 4 hr gigs at the Royal Oak and the show at the Lieutenants pump will always be in my heart. When our families started to take a greater priority, music started to slip in importance. But it was always in the back of my mind that we would play together again. Thanks for the music and the friendship. Thanks for the Beatles.
I think Mark would appreciate some rock cheesiness so I'll leave this for him: "see you on the otherside buddy"

I attended Marc’s funeral with my sister, Joy. I was kind of sad to go a young man I have never met with a young family. However, the Respect, the Courage, the Love I witnessed will stay with me forever. I felt like I met Mark there, ever with the sadness and loss people close to him felt the courage and love his young family shared I am sure made a lasting impression forever. Our condolences to all of you on the loss of Mark. We met Mark in Kirkland Lake when he worked there in the early 2000’s. He lived across the hall from us. His musical ability and witty charm and sense of humour will always be a memory of ours. When he moved to Ottawa, we wanted him to be welcomed so we introduced him to our friend Tony Clayton who recently passed away as well.

I'm so sorry for the passing of Mark. He was such a kind and gentle man, a wonderful husband and father...and just a really awesome person. He's the kind of person that would offer to help carry groceries or watch my baby in the car seat for me when I had to pop back into my house because I forgot something.
What I remember the most is....I would always see Mark outside with Luc, Mathieu and Benoit, sometimes playing soccer, or bringing them to the park, or in the front yard playing ball hockey - it seemed like they were always doing something together, and having a lot of fun doing it! I could tell he poured all his love into his family just by his beaming smile when he was with them. Please accept our deep condolences. You and your family are in our thoughts and our prayers.

Mark was one of my great students at SSFC in the Fish and Wildlife program. As soon as I heard of his passing I had an image of a strong young man with glasses with that perpetual gentle smile. So calm, so humble, easy going and quiet , but he only needed to speak when it had meaning. I followed his career up to DFO but lost touch at that point. I remember him playing his guitar at our 3rd year F&W camp at Loon lake and lighting up the room. He was a quiet people person and although I have not had contact with him for many years, his premature passing makes me very sad personally, since I see all my past students as my kids in a way. I remember his calming effect on his team during the very stressful times in 3rd year of Fish and Wildlife. I know the world is not as rich as it was before his passing and I value the time I had with Mark. My deepest sympathy to the family. Mark was a good one.

Hearing of Mark's passing has been heartbreaking. Mark was one of my best buddies growing up on Crewe's Road and in Glovertown. From hanging out in Mark's basement, trips to his family's cabin, playing sports, having a few drinks and even feeding The Scott's chickens & ducks, I have many cherished memories of Mark. So many times over the years I have thought about Mark and how he was doing in life, asking fellow Glovertownians if they knew any scoop. Every highschool memory of Mark brings me a smile - he was a great friend to everyone - no exceptions, always out for a laugh. When I heard about Mark’s passing, I was in disbelief and shock. Growing up, our homes were side by side and I immediately went back in my mind to our childhood and our ventures on crewes road together. We grew up side by side and went through school together. Mark- we were close buddies in high school- I will never forget hanging out in our parents basements laughing and asking for a ‘scoff’. We played sports together and were buddies since Kindergarten. Shocked and saddened. Miss you brother.

Dear Renée and family,
Words cannot express my deepest and most heartfelt condolences on Mark’s passing. Mark added such a big and joyful personality to our little FCSAP team. He spoke so highly and animatedly about you and the boys, I feel like I know you all. His passion and enthusiasm for his family, work and life in general was contagious. Mark and I grew up together on the same street. We went to each other’s birthday parties, played in the street after school and had some amazing Connect 4 competitions! This was a great group outing. Mark and I worked so hard to break the last code. We were both so excited that we ran to the front keypad and entered the code to unlock the door. We only had 7 seconds left. He was so proud that we were able to escape the room.

Dear Renee and Family,
I was shocked and saddened to hear of Mark's passing. FCSAP is a small tight knit group and this news was devastating to us all. Mark was not only my co worker but a great friend. When I went through some dark times, he was always there to cheer me up. I will miss our daily conversations about anything and everything, our numerous work trip shenanigan's, our talks about the renovations since he wasn't always sure and I would keep reminding him he is doing a great job and so many more moments. Dear Renee and Family,
I had the pleasure of working with Mark in various capacities over the years and actually sat in the cubicle next to him for a time. It was obvious what a dedicated and proud family man he was. He always had a cute story to share about the boys and Renee, and spoke fondly about his parents' visits. Through these stories, I could tell what a happy and loving home life you created. He seemed to know what really mattered in life and didn't let the small stuff get to him.
When he received compliments on his boys' 3 school photos proudly displayed over his desk, he would joke that it's not that he prefers his younger son and so has 2 pictures of him... they're twins! Mark's easy-going and accepting nature put people at ease. He will be sorely missed within his work community.

Mark with myself and other Prescott DFO members. Great staff day on the St. Lawrence river. It was a wet day and Mark had no rain coat. I was able to find my old duck hunting coat in my car and lent it to Mark for the wet day. He was so appreciative. He was cracking jokes as usual that day.
