Learning of Mike’s passing was both shocking and so terribly sad. I met Mike and Jason on the ice in Orleans and knew immediately that these two (Father and Son) guys were not only excellent hockey players, they were also outstanding people. Mike was a true gentleman on and off the ice. I enjoyed spending time with Mike after games reminiscing about his time in the service over a couple of beers and some wings. My thoughts, prayers and sincerest condolences go out to Jeanette and the entire family for your loss. Mike will be missed terribly by all that knew him.
Sincerely,
Gerry Price

Mike was a pleasure to work with. He was knowledgeable and reliable. Above all I respected his integrity. Off-work, he was affable and always ready to engage in any topic. Mike’s passing was much too soon. To all who know him, especially his immediate family, my sincere condolences. Mike has left an empty space in my heart and I’m sure it is the same for all who knew him. May God take care of him – rest in peace, my friend.

Dear Jeannette and family, there are no words to express our condolences. Mike was one of the best colleagues I knew. He was caring, generous, funny, hard-working, and an all around great guy to know and work with.
To say he will truly be missed is an understatement. Even though Mike’s passing was sudden the wonderful memories will be forever cherished. I cannot tell you how sorry and saddened I am. I hope you find some comfort in knowing how great a man your sweet husband was. Love to you all.

Dear Jeanette, Jason and Jennifer,
My heart weighs heavy as I consider the pain that you all must be enduring. For those who knew Mike and were blessed with his kindhearted comfortably approachable personality, you all know just how wonderful a person he was.
Mike was not just a neighbor, he was a friend, a dear friend to whom I will deeply miss. He never once in the 20 years I knew him ever made me feel that he did not have the time to talk, people like that are rare and treasured. Thank you for sharing this wonderful person with me and my family. Call on me if you should need anything.
Much love and regards,
Butch

My deepest condolences to the family and his friends. Mike will truly be missed by everybody who knew him, such an amazing person. I met Mike threw Barry Flood's Hockey Group (Barry's best friend). I've played a lot of Hockey with Mike and against Mike. His proudest moment's when Jason was in the same game with him, Mike told me that to me often. He always played really hard and fast, never hurting anybody. I've never seen him get mad. If his teams was to strong he go to the other team to even them out a little bit. After the games Mike would go with the boys to have a couple of drinks and talk. Mike was there just to have fun and to enjoy everybody's company. When I heard about the accident I was so sick all that day I couldn't function properly. Well for sure Heaven has another Angel with them.

Michael: A gentleman and a friend.
"Mike' will be greatly missed by his hockey teammates of the NGSMHL. I had the pleasure of being part of the team.
We will remember his easy smile, good humour and sportsmanship. The league has lost an all-around gentleman player. "Saint Peter has gained a top left winger on his heavenly team".
Sadly, there will be an empty seat at Dunn's Restaurant where the players congregate for a drink after leaving the Potvin Arena on Friday nights.
Mike really loved to talk about his family. His airplane and flying adventures came second.
To Jeannette and family, please accept our deepest condolences for your great loss.
Mike, rest in peace, you have earned a "permanent first star!" We will all miss you.

Besides my own team, Mike was one of the first people last fall to come over to welcome me to PSPC. He originally came to simply drop off a safety binder but he ended up staying and we had a lovely chat. When the call went out for a Deputy Emergency Floor Warden to work with Mike, I immediately signed up. Without knowing him all that well, I instinctively respected and trusted him. I soon knew that I was not wrong. He became a bright light in the morning with his upbeat nature and great sense of humour.
I am extremely sorry for all of you who are suffering with this terrible loss. I know that Mike will also be sadly missed by all of us here at work. My hope is that the memories that may now be painful will, in time, become more of a comfort and joy for you.

Mike was a generous person, with his time, his laughter and his smile. You didn't just work with Mike, you had help when you asked for it, sage advice when you needed it and a friend who could lift you up to see the clouds. I was lucky to work beside Mike for a while and jumped at the chance when he offered to share his hobby with my son and I. He was truly a kind man who spoke often of his beautiful family and always shared the latest pictures of his granddaughter.
Words cannot express my sincere condolences to Jeannette and to all of Mike's family. You are in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Jeannette, and Family,
I am so very sorry to hear of the sudden loss of Mike, a friend and a truly great man.
I first met Mike in the Avionics Lab in CFB Cold Lake while I was managing CF18 equipment in CFB Rockliffe during the 90’s. He was my go-to-guy whenever we were experiencing problems with the equipment. I was really glad to hear that he and his family were moving to Ottawa and living down the street from me in Beacon Hill North. He joined the public service a few years later and I had the good fortune to work with him on the 8th floor. Mike was the kind of guy that made people’s day even when things weren’t going so well. He had a way of bringing a smile to a room full of people and I know that he will be truly missed by everyone that met him.
Please accept my sincere sympathy for your loss. Wishing you peace to bring comfort, courage to face the days ahead and loving memories to forever hold in your heart.
Rest in peace Mike. I will miss you and truly believe that somewhere there is a new star smiling down on us.

It has been one week today that we learned of our dear Mike's untimely passing. An unrelenting sadness has engulfed the 8th floor here in our work place.
Mike was a remarkable, kind and caring human being; the world would be such a better place with more of his kind. He never ever hesitated to assist anyone with anything.
I had surgery this past spring and he emailed me every week to see how I was doing. When I returned to the work place, I learned that Mike too had surgery in my absence...he had never told me; that was Mike, so humble, always concerned of others before himself.
Mike so loved his family. The week before his accident, I was in his office, as usual he was helping me with a work issue. I asked about darling Lily, I inquired about her age, I remembered that their birthdays were so close together. He was so excited to show me her most recent picture; what a proud grandpa.
To Mike's beloved family, I, like so many will never forget Mike MacNeil!
I am so sorry that I will not be able to attend Mike's service on Saturday, I continue to think of all of you that mourn at this very difficult time.
Most sincerely, Charlene J.

My deepest condolences to the family. Mike was an awesome man, I have never met someone that kind. He was always positive, caring, generous, good listener, funny and really loveable (and more). I remember when he used to buy that giant cookie from Le Pierrot (I think) and was going offices to offices asking if anyone wanted a bite. He was always seeing the best in people and always welcomed everyone with opened arms. He was so proud of his family and about being a grand-dad. I will always remember him as this amazing person that he was. Rest in peace, angel.

My deepest condolences to the family and friends of such a wonderful man. I am lucky to have known him for the period of time that I did.
Michael always had a positive outlook, a warm demeanor, and a great sense of humor. He went out of his way to make me feel welcome when I joined the Civilian Aircraft Division of Public Works, stopping to check in and see how I was doing, inviting me for coffee with the team, offering me work outside of my regular duties to challenge me (and being very appreciative for the result), readily answering any questions I had about work, and was just a great guy and great guy to chat with.
Michael is loved and is missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

Condolences to Mike's family and friends. My heart was heavy from the news of Mike's passing. I worked with Mike, he was a beautiful soul. I was forever misplacing my glasses. One morning, I arrived to work to find a wooden head figurine, with a placement to set a pair of glasses. I got a great chuckle out of the gesture. Safe to say, I never had to search the filing cabinets from that day forward, (which was the norm of my missing glasses), very thoughtful of him.
