My sympathy is with your family at this time. I was shocked to learn of Brians passing, we were friends for almost 25 years and in that time we had some wonderful moments. We were trying to plan a lunch soon because he was working downtown again, but...I will hold up a glass to you Brian and hope that you are golfing up a storm, I will miss you and your crazy/serious humor. As always, Carol

My sympathy on your loss. I was shocked and saddened to learn of Brian's passing. I saw him last December at a festive lunch with Leo Duguay and Alain Pilon at the Rothwell Group offices. We shared laughs and a good time.
Brian was personally helpful to me and was always kind and gentlemanly. He will be missed.

Andrew and family. I was very saddened by the news of your father's passing. I always enjoyed Brian's easy going manner whether on the ball diamond, on the golf course or having a laugh over a pint. Hopefully your memories of your Dad will help you through the coming days. Be strong.

Sincere condolences to Brian's loved ones. My Dad Mel Fitzgerald and Ken were first cousins on the Oakes side. I was very fond of Grace she always kept in touch. When we were kids Brian ND Brenda and Ken and Grace used to come for visits to Merrickville and Brockville. My Dad and Ken were very close.
Brian was taken far too young. RIP cousin. Sorry I just saw this now or I would have been there with you.

Brian was a Good Friend!!!
I meet Brian many years ago when we were employed by the Federal Government. He was my " Go To Guy" in Telecommunications. I was the guy from Newfoundland and he was from Big Bad Ottawa!!! Brian treated me with respect... and very soon a friendship between us flourished... we talked with each other almost daily in those years and I respected him for his knowledge and eagerness to assist us every time we needed his help... I have been to Brian and Rachel's home for a party with family and friends... He visited me at my home in St. John's also.. One time I was able to get tickets and Myself, Brian and one of his sons went to The Gray Cup in Toronto.. hen Brian left the Government we still stayed in touch and when i went to Ottawa at times when we could we would meet up and .catch up on what was happening in each others lives...
Brian was generous also... One year while myself and a friend were trying to rejuvenate a cancelled kids Fastpitch tournament we were short on funds and Brian helped us out... We awarded the player on each team who had the highest marks in School that year a $100.00 gift certificate for school supplies,,, So A young boy in Newfoundland that year bought his school supplies for the next year because of Brian Bruce. Because we were able to revive this Tournament that year .. the community really got behind in and it still is a major event in St. John's with 40 boys and girls teams participating... If we had not been able to get that first one off the ground that would not be happening today... Brian was part of that success!!!
I know that Brian loved his family... his kids and now his Grandkids... The excitement and pleasure in his face when we see the pictures is evidence enough... He LOVED YOU GUYS!!!!
I liked how every year he posted a picture of his Father in his uniform...I never meet him, but he must have been a Great man to garner such respect form Brian...
The most telling pictures that Brian posts on line are the ones of Him and Rachel... The Love and Respect they share with each other is evident.... They have gone through a lot in the last few years and the Love for each other gets stronger and stronger... Two who were meant to be together!!!
Rachel I know you will miss him, but I know you have wonderful family around you who Love you dearly and want you in their lives...
While we did not speak to each other every day we did keep in toiuch ... and I will miss my FRIEND Brian K Bruce !!!

Andrew - I am so sorry to hear of your dad’s passing. It doesn’t matter how old we are or where life takes us...losing a parent just makes you feel like a vulnerable little kid all over again. I hope that you’re taking care of yourself through all of this, and I wish you love and strength to get through the chaos of the next few days and the quiet that will follow. I will keep you and your family in my thoughts. xo

Rachel and family members:
It is with great sorrow that we learned of Brian's sudden passing away. Too young to leave his loved ones and friends at such a tender age. Albeit, the good times and found memories you have with Brian will last forever.
Unfortunately, we will be out of town on Monday and will not be able to join in for his memorial celebration. Our thoughts and prayers will accompany all of you.
Bon courage Rachel!

The Members of Camelot are so sad to learn of this news, as they were once again looking forward to seeing Brian on the fairways and greens at the club this summer. He has left us much too soon, but contributed significantly to the club over his years on the Board of Governors, and as President from 2008-2011. Rest in peace Brian.
