First I wish to extend my condolences to Don's Family. Belated though they may be, it is very heartfelt. I knew Don and his family (parents and brothers and sister) as they were neighbours of ours in Rosemere. I was 13 years younger than Don and great friends with Tommy. I just happened to search for Don on Facebook this evening and am saddened to hear of his passing. There were many nights spent around a campfire in our backyard. If I recall correctly Don played a guitar and many "naughty for the time" songs were exchanged and sung. Never to be forgotten. I hope all are well. -Fred Bramston

Anne - I was so sorry to hear of Don's passing even though it has been about 20
years since we have been together. I am happy that Margie called me and that we
were able to celebrate Don's life with your beautiful family. It was great to meet
the boys Mark, Jason and Ryan and their wives and all those 10 grandchildren.
You have done a wonderful job with Don raising this family. It was interesting to
hear the stories told by his three sons and to share this time with you all. It was
overwhelming to meet so many cousins yesterday and some I did not know that I had.

Dear Aunt Anne, Jason , Mark and Ryan
I was so sad to hear about Uncle Donnie. I will always have fun memories of all the Hatfield antics during our Rosemere years! I know how much you and the all the kids will miss him. I'm glad we got to all reconnect at the reunion a few years ago and Jeff got a chance to meet "Axer" as my dad always called him.
All our love to you,
Kelly and Jeff

Dear Annie and Family,
We were so sorry to hear of your loss. Don was truly a people person and always had a joke or a story to engage whoever he was speaking with. We will remember him with deep fondness especially at Garrie's parties on the St. Lawrence River.

For all our Hatfield Cousins and with special embrace of condolence for Anne and her immediate family ,,,,remember well when first our cousin Don would turn up at the Hilton family home in Rockwood and entertain us with his easy charm and joy in life .We were soooo impressed that this good looking ,fun loving fellow was 'our cousin' .Then impressed even more when he brought fair Anne when he visited . Haven't seen Don since those days in the late 50's early 60's but I see him him readily in the silver haired photo posted here as part of his obituary ,,,,the mischievous cocked left eyebrow the giveaway .
It sounds like life was good for Don and Anne and as I said to Margie there are probably only two 'good' ways to go ,,,,quietly , in the comfort of one's own bed or doing something you enjoy full bore in your own backyard domain .I am glad that when Don's time on earth ended it was in one of these ways .
Anne ,there is no time limit for grieving when you lose a piece of your heart. From the last of the Hiltons, our sincere sympathies in the profoundness of your loss .
Love , Rob ,Libby,Dave and Mary

Hi Anne,
I am so shocked and sad to hear of Don's passing. I feel so lucky we made contact in the fall after so many years. In that conversation we made a promise we would get together this summer which I was really looking forward to. Anne, I just wanted you to know I'm thinking of you and your wonderful family. The offer still stands. I'd love to have you for a visit. After all it's been almost 50 years!
Your crazy neighbour from Brawley Rd. and Country Lane.

As you say goodbye, remember he will always be close in spirit, in memories, in stories that you tell. But mostly in the hearts of all those who met him and got instantly charmed. From his love of sardines, to his famous maple syrup and his woodwork that we will always have a piece of his craft here in Barbados, he will always be remembered with a smile and a chuckle. So happy we got to see him in recent mths. Love to Anne and everyone.
