We met Dave when he first opened his practice. He was a kind, considerate, caring man with a good sense of humor, and a rare individual. If medical doctors were more like Dave, we would have a better society. We moved around a lot and could never find a veterinarian anything close to him. As a matter of fact while living in the U.S., one of our dogs needed knee surgery and we made the drive back to Orleans to have Dave do the surgery. However once we got there, we were informed that his brother had taken over the practice and one of the doctors there did the surgery. It went well but there is still no substitute for Dave. We were able to meet him for coffee though and enjoyed a great visit with him. That is probably the last time we got to see him. We sent Christmas cards to him for several years. That man truly cared about animals and their owners. We have never met anyone like him and never will, he will be missed!

Dave has always had a special place in my heart. We went to school together for many years and were great friends. From the Dingle St. days pretending we had a rope across the road on Halloween and being chased by a man who didn\'t think it was funny to stealing an outhouse and putting it on the from lawn at East Elgin when\" John\" was running for high school president. Dave was one of the kindest, funniest, happiest people I have ever met. Although we went our separate ways, I will always remember Dave with great fondness. My condolences to his family.

My condolences to all of Dave's family and friends. I will surely miss Dr. Dave's carefree, funny and generous spirit and our mutual verbal jousting about many current events and just what animals really are thinking Leamington was a more interesting place when you were there! Peace and Namaste, my friend.

We were so sorry to hear about Dave\'s passing. We remember his wonderful sense of humour, (even when our dog peed on his shoe), his compassion, his hilarious stories, and his competitive spirit when he was a Blues Brother. We had a lot of fun, and feel very sad that he\'s gone. Condolences to all the family. He will be missed.

I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of Dave's passing. I am profoundly sorry for all of his extended family and friends who lost a great man way too soon. Dr. Dave's practice was my first clinical experience while I was still in high school contemplating a career in veterinary medicine. During summer office parties I remember his tiny Poms on the trampoline in the back yard! He was instrumental in helping me learn the skills that have guided me to achieve the successes of today. RIP.

I am sadened by Daves' passing. Dr. Streib has been our veterinarian since 1978 in his first office in Orleans, We got to know him a lot over the years and recently his son at the current location. We would like to express our condolences to your family and your sisters and brothers and extended famiy. He had a laugh that filled the rooms throughout the building and always had a kind word for everyone. He also loved animals, no matter how big or small and he liked the unusual animals too, like his 3 legged cat many few years ago that roamed the building and greeted visitors. We joked with him that when we got a 3 legged tabby too, he reassured us that he will be able to run and play even without that other leg. He was right. God bless you at this time and may you have some comfort from this little note. Take care everyone. Anita and Fred Albert, Orleans, Ontario - Jan 27.16

I will always remember Dave’s politically correct sense of humor and infectious laugh. After being reunited with our long-lost cat, we brought him to the clinic because of his incessant crying and moaning in the middle of the night. Dave’s diagnosis was immediate: The tomcat was not neutered. I assured Dave that he himself had neutered the cat a few years back, to which he politely replied “Well, I suppose they could have grown back”. RIP Dave. My condolences to Kurt, Mary, Maureen and the entire Orleans Vet Hospital team as well as his family, many friends and all the people who loved and appreciated him.

So saddened to hear of Dr. Dave - hope he will be connected with puppy dog heaven. A wonderful guy and wonderful Vet. Also responsible in part, abetted by brother Kurt, in bringing Cooper into my life. Not sure if that is a good thing or not, but did have a wonderful and very interesting ten years with that big black lab. My sincere sympathy to Kurt and all of Dave's family. A wonderful caring and giving individual has been lost to all.

So very sad to hear of Dave's passing. He was such a kind and generous person. He was a great listener but Oh, did he love to share. I'll never forget that infectious laugh and all those great stories of care for the animals at his vet hospital and concern for the owners of these wonderful creatures. Dave may well be the only vet in Ontario to have successfully freed a child's pet cricket from a piece of string tied around its body. I've always felt this worth mention in veterinary journals (the Streib stringectomy for Gryllidae). Dave cared and the creatures he cared for and the people around him benefitted greatly. Bon voyage!
