Brian MacNeill

Obituary of Brian MacNeill

Of Cumberland Ontario in his 70th year. Third son of the late John (Jack) and Laura (Whitlock) MacNeill of New Brunswick. Beloved soulmate and husband to Helen (Beaton) MacNeill for 32 years. Cherished brother of Helen (Lloyd Lough); Reggie (Margaret); Merilyn (Nancy); Richard (Bernadette) Don and predeceased by infant brother Jackie. Special brother-in-law to Gail Beaton. Mentor, teacher and confidant to many nieces and nephews. Brian will be dearly missed by his multitude of lifelong friends. Helen, Gail and the MacNeill family appreciate the kindness you have shown. In particular, thank you to the Luchtenberg family for being more than just neighbours, especially Erik and Ben. Brian worked for MTO for 37 years. Shortly after joining them he was spotted by a scout for the Montreal Expos who invited him to try out for the team. Bad timing! He chose the transportation grind instead of ball. Retiring in 1998 he then went on to work in the private sector for Greely Sand and Gravel; Ron McNamara Trucking; R.W. Tomlinson Ltd; and Bakker Trucking. His interests in the community were many and he could be relied upon to lend a hand. Family and friends are invited to gather at Heritage Funeral Complex, 1250 Trim Road, Orleans from 2-4 and 7-9 on Monday June 5th. Cremation has taken place and at Brian’s request there will be no funeral service. Private interment at Dales Cemetery, Cumberland Ontario. In keeping with Brian’s generosity he chose to donate numerous organs, please consider that option yourself. In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate that donations be sent to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 110-1525 Carling Ave., Ottawa, ON, K1Z 8R9.
