Mr. Gallant was an inspiration to me from his Gander days where he was a shift supervisor (Cpl.). Integrity and presence were his hallmarks. My own RCMP career was heavily influenced by by the role models I had met in Gander and I am grateful to Mr. Gallant for the time he took with younger people and then within RCM Police... with younger members. Mr. Gallant was different, he did not let his senior ranking prohibit him from interpersonal relationships with Constables and NCO's. A man ahead of his own time!

It with such heavy hearts that we say our goodbyes to a fine man. Mr. Gallant was a strong role model in my life for over 25 years. Mr. and Mrs. Gallant became our neighbours in Fallingbrook while we were still in high school. As fellow Maritimers, there was an instant bond ...but it turned out our families had so much more in common. The friendship between my parents and Mr. & Mrs. Gallant lasted through many moves, retirements, birthdays, anniversaries...it was a friendship to past the test of time. As both families moved into retirement, they continued their friendship as Snowbirds, enjoying many games of golf in the sunny south. One of my fondest memories of Mr. Gallant was when I visited my parents in Florida when Shea was just four and Molly was a baby. All the families packed up for a road trip with the trailers. Mr. Gallant had a lantern that he convinced Shea that he was turning on and off by saying "Alex Gallant"....it never wore old for Shea. Mr. Gallant loved children, adults, dogs, cats....and life in general. He lived a full and happy life, and now he has found his peace. Our thoughts and prayers are with the girls and his family.

Please accept our most sincere condolences. Your dad really was a very special man and a good friend to us. He taught Leo so much about home repairs and you always knew he was happy to help. We loved being in his company because of his wonderful stories. The memorial service was a wonderful tribute to a wonderful man.

This week, we both lost one of our dearest friends. Our hearts are broken. Losing Roz and now Carl, has left a big void in our lives. We shared so much together over many great years of friendship. Their love of family and friends was an inspiration to both of us. Carl, we will miss you beyond words but we are comforted in knowing you have joined your love, soul mate and best friend and are now smiling down on us. Until we meet again ?

Meeting and spending time with Carl was a gift we will treasure. When first meeting him through Audrey, just a short while ago, we were struck by his joyfulness and attentiveness to others. We will remember him as being both captivating and soulful. We are deeply sorry for what so many have lost. We are thinking of you, Deidre and Heather, and of our sister and aunt, Audrey. We met Carl at our home with Audrey when they visited last year. I kind of knew him as a child in school and was very pleased to again make his acquaintance. We very quickly realized the special person he was. He will be sadly missed. Our condolences to his family. We can just imagine how difficult it must be to have lost their second parent in such a short while. And to Audrey who we know has lost a very special friend.

Deidre and Heather, we are so sorry to learn of your father's passing, so very sad. We met your father only last year when he stayed at our home in PEI on a few different occasions. Although, we only knew Carl for a short while he made a very big impression on Brett and I. He was a model of how to live a good life and we are very saddened by the passing of our friend. His determination regarding his health challenges; his positive attitude about living each day to the fullest; his love of life, family, cycling, and making new friends; his fondness for PEI and his family history; his openness to share with us his life story and philosophy; and his kindness regarding his care and interest in our home and wanting to share his lovely vacation home in Florida with us. He had a huge open heart and spoke of you both very fondly. He will be sorely missed. Our thoughts are with you at this very difficult time. Sincerely, Carolyn Cudmore and Brett Maitland, Washington, DC

I had the pleasure of meeting Carl through my Aunt Audrey, and spent time with them on several occasions. He was very warm-hearted and friendly, and it was easy to feel comfortable in his presence. I enjoyed hearing his RCMP stories, and was happy to have had the opportunity to have met him. Sending my condolences and prayers to all his family and friends, I am sure he will be deeply missed.

Heather and Dee Carl was truly an amazing man, He made friends every place he went. His charm, consideration for other people and his great smile made him one of a kind. We met Carl and Rozz At Bluberry Hill in Florida and immediately made a great connection as neighbors. Carl would go out of his way to help us out repairing anything we needed. His Golf game was good and we had lots of good times on the course. Carl showed us the Canadian hospitality when we visited OTTAWA ( our first time there) We will always remember that great visit. I still have my RCMP hat and wear it proudly. Carl had great pride and stories about you two Ladies and loved you both. Your Michigan connection We will miss Him and his smile Marty and Jo

on occasion, you are afforded an opportunity to meet and get to know somebody who has a lasting impression on you for a lifetime......for us, that was Carl. On a professional level, I learned so much from him. He always chose the high road and never swayed from the core values....he lived them. That professional relationship turned into a lifelong friendship and our lives were enriched as a result. i know Carl would be telling us to live life to the fullest, focus on what matters, and never lose sight of your family and friends as they are priceless. Heather and Deidre.....cherish the great memories and know that your dad and mom were incredible individuals. Roger and Deborah Ann

Twelve years ago we moved to Ottawa and were blessed with the best neighbours ever. After Ros\'s passing we were truly sad; now our hearts are broken. Carl Gallant was the kindness most giving man ever. It didn\'t matter what you needed, he was always there. Now saying that, he really disliked plumbing. He would say, \"You hever know where the leak is coming from\". After a conversation with Carl, we always felt we could take on anything. He was the most positive person we knew. Visits were few over the last two years, but conversations were often. Carl, we miss you already. Heather and Dee we are thinking of you both.

Carl was a great neighbour, friend and traveling companion. Always ready to lend a helping hand he made friends wherever he went. The funny stories were endless and fabled. His ability to keep a secret was legendary and you could always trust when he said it was in "the Vault" no one would hear of it again. Always planning an escapade I can somehow imagine Carl, Roz and Maggie heading down the road in his Dodge truck towing his fifth wheel heading for their next great adventure. Our sincere condolences to Heather and Dee. You Dad will be sorely missed. Bill & Marilee MacQuarrie

I best knew Carl when we were both posted to "B" Division, St. John's, NL. Even then I saw him as a member with outstanding potential, in which he proved me correct in every respect! Since that time, so many years ago, I've followed his career as a Commissioned Officer and can truly say that he was a person well like and respected for his outstanding abilities. I was shocked today to learn of his passing at such a young age. My sympathies go out to his family.

Dear Dee and Heather may all your good memories of your dad help to ease your pain at this difficult time. Glenn and I had the good fortune for over 18 yrs to live beside your parents and granny. Your dad was always so upbeat, the true meaning of a good neighbour. Your dad left his mark at our cottage as he in 2005 installed all our ceramic flooring. We will never forget your mom, dad and Maggie. May they all rest in peace.

It is so hard to think of a tribute that would be fitting to Carl. I came to know Carl when we lived next-door to him when I was a teenager. My dad and Carl came fast friends with their love of cycling and support for their families being their bond. As we were military, my parents had developed many friendships over the years…as we moved about our friends became family. Their friendship with Carl and Roz was one to last a lifetime. Nobody who knew Carl can deny he had the most mischievous grin. He would flash it as me when I was escaping the house as a teenager… always up to some antic. His smile was bright and his eyes had a kindness. As a police officer, he had seen many teens up to antics… There was no pulling the wool over his eyes. Carl's love for Dee, Heather, and Roz knew no bounds. He had such great pride in his girls. Maggie was another light of his life. The Gallant girls captured his fancy. His carinng and generosity was shone upon my family once again when he met my husband. Serge was so proud to have met Inspector Gallant. He will always wear his spurs with great pride...and I will always think of Carl when I see him in dress uniform. I know Roz's star shines brighter having been joined by Carl. Serge and I wish you a peaceful journey with full yet broken hearts.
