To My Entire Ladds Clan, I am so sorry that I was not able to be with you all this week in Ottawa. I would have been there if I was able. Cathy was a wonderful person and I know you will all miss her terribly. I have my beach glass necklace that she made and I will always treasure it and think of her. I will also think of her each time I watch a skating programs as I know she loved these as well. Although Cathy is no longer physically beside you now, have faith that she is now an angel by your side helping to guide you and watch out for you in the days ahead. Take time to grieve and take care of yourself during this emotional time. Love Lee

Cathy and I worked together over many years. We had adventures in focus group moderating that will never be forgotten--driving from Calgary to Lethbridge at 1 am singing along to the oldies on the radio; visiting farms and farmers for the Census of Agriculture project and being the "dancing hippos" for a cultural project we worked on with a well known Canadian dancer. We had great times at the Canadian Figure Skating Championship a number of years ago, spending hours watching in a cold arena and loving every minute of it. Cathy, you will be missed for your generous spirit, your willingness to get things done and your ability to make those around you better.

I’m sad to hear that Cathy has passed away. I’m happy that you visited us on Vancouver Island and we had a chance to see her while she was still healthy. We really enjoyed that visit with you, Cathy and Bryan, and cherish those memories. I still pick up beach glass and have a bunch in my car, I had a thought of mailing it to her at some point. Please put a piece of beach glass on her grave for us. Cathy will be in our prayers, Rick and Shirley

I am so sad tonight. Cathy was a mentor and friend to me for many great years when I was a young consultant and later, a public servant. She was smart, insightful and funny, but also very generous, selfless and humble to a fault. Cathy always acknowledged others and downplayed her own role in any success. I have rarely met a woman with a bigger, more open heart. And that laugh... there isn\'t another one like it. She met the many trials and challenges life dealt her with a sense of purpose and optimism that left me in awe and yet, she was so understated about it. The only thing she wasn\'t understated about was how proud she was of you, Bryan. Her eyes absolutely sparkled whenever she talked about you, your adventures and the times you spent together. This world has lost a beautiful soul. I am very sorry for your loss.

I had the fortune to work with Cathy over 15 years. She was an early mentor of mine. She was an Innovator - leading on some daring and nigh-impossible projects - and taking some of us along for the ride:) And she was a friend - never hesitating to help a colleague - no matter how big or how small the task. I\'ll cherish the wisdom she shared with me over the years, and share it 10 fold. Bless you Cathy. You touched so many. May you find peace and rest.

John and Bryan, I extend my condolences to you both in this difficult time. I am one of many who benefitted from sitting near Cathy at work (Treasury Board). She had a cheerful and generous spirit, and that is how I choose to remember her. On my dresser at home, I have one of the beautiful beaded necklaces she crafted in support of the fight against cancer. She was a great model to all of her colleagues at the Secretariat - transforming her empathy for the less fortunate into action, even receiving a Silver Jubilee Medal for her tireless work. My sympathies.

John and Bryan, so sorry to hear of your loss. I knew Cathy from our work in public opinion research. She was one of the key POR advisors for the government, showing leadership and contributing in ways both big and small to that community. We developed a friendship forged through regular pub lunches of the \"old guard\" which included Mike and Wlad. Any time we met, she would brag about you, Bryan, and the last time I saw her, John, she was planning what you would do when you retired. Cathy was snatched from you both too young.
