C’est avec grande tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Marcel Diotte, le vendredi 25 juin 2021, au Centre d’accueil Roger-Séguin à Clarence Creek. Il est parti paisiblement dans son sommeil, alors que Lise, son épouse de plus de 50 ans, était à ses côtés. Il laisse dans le deuil son épouse, Lise Diotte (née Guay), ses enfants, Marc-André Diotte (Catherine Boutin) et Dominique Diotte (Scott Fuller), ses petites-filles Adèle Diotte et Éliane Hamed, ainsi que sa soeur Rachelle Gauthier (née Diotte) (Roger Gauthier). Il laisse aussi dans le deuil ses beaux-frères et belles-sœurs, feu Roger Guay (Claire Lafleur), Denis Guay (Lyse Lafrenière), Richard Guay (Marquise Cardinal), Lucie Campeau (née Guay) (feu Gilles Campeau), Marc Guay, Ann Guay (Sylvain Perrier), ses neveux et nièces, cousins et cousines, et amis. Il est prédécédé par ses parents, Albéni Diotte et Jeanne Diotte (née Clément), ses frères et soeurs Rolande Desjardins (feu Lionel Desjardins), Simone O’Leary (feu Maurice O’Leary), Vincent Diotte (feu Jeannine Diotte, née Potvin), Jean-Paul Diotte (Claudette Diotte, née Laflamme), et Richard Diotte (Èveline Diotte, née Chouinard). Né à Ottawa en 1945, Marcel a grandi sur la rue Preston. Il fit ses études au Eastern Ontario Institute of Technology et eut une carrière en recherche au gouvernement fédéral. C’était un homme aux multiples talents exceptionnels, passionné par la nature, d’une habileté hors du commun. Il a dû ranger sa boîte à outils beaucoup trop tôt; alors qu’il a dû faire le deuil de ses capacités, Marcel était le courage même, ayant vécu avec la sclérose en plaques pendant plus de 40 ans. Il a toujours conservé son sourire, sa bonne humeur infatigable, son vif sens de l’humour, sa loyauté et sa dévotion à sa famille, ainsi que sa force de caractère. La famille souhaite exprimer sa profonde reconnaissance aux préposés aux bénéficiaires qui ont donné des soins hors-pair alors que Marcel habitait toujours avec sa famille, ainsi qu’au personnel exceptionnel du Centre d’accueil Roger-Séguin qui l’ont si bien entouré pendant l’isolation de la pandémie. Étant donné la situation exceptionnelle que nous vivons tous en ce moment, une célébration de vie en privée aura lieu au Complexe funéraire Héritage à Orléans le lundi 12 juillet 2021 à 14h. Born in 1945, Marcel was raised on Preston Street in Ottawa. He studied at the Eastern Ontario Institute of Technology and had a career in research with the federal government. He was a man of multiple exceptional talents, with a passionate devotion for nature, and extraordinary abilities. He was forced to put his tool box away much too soon, and though he had to mourn the loss of his capacities, he was the embodiment of courage, having lived with multiple sclerosis for more than 40 years. He always kept his smile, his unfaltering good spirits, his quick wit and sense of humour, his loyalty and devotion to his family, and his strength of character. The family wishes to express deep gratitude to the personal support workers who gave Marcel such amazing care while he still resided with his family, as well as to the exceptional staff of the Centre d’accueil Roger-Séguin who made him feel at home during the isolation of the pandemic. Given the exceptional circumstances in which we all find ourselves, a private celebration of his life will take place at the Heritage Funeral Complex in Orleans on Monday July 12th 2021 at 2:00 p.m. In person attendance by invitation only.
