Obituary of Beatrice Wall (née Doin)

It is with profound sadness that the family of Beatrice announces her peaceful passing on February 7th, 2021 at the age of 75. Beloved wife of Douglas for 50 years and survived by her three sons, David (Michelle), Daniel (Laurie) and Matthew (Nathalie). She will also be fondly remembered by her five granddaughters Mackenzie, Nayeli, Olivia, Elsie and Taylor, by her mother Marguerite Huguet-Latour, sisters Louise (Marcel), Micheline (Yvon), Françoise, Anne-Marie (Luc), her brothers Robert (Marcelle), (twin) Louis-Philippe (Lorraine), Gilles (Sylvie), Jean-Yves (Sylvie) and by all who were deeply touched by her radiant smile, kind disposition and her seemingly endless energy. Beatrice was born on October 11th, 1945, to a large close-knit family in Rosemere, QC. She graduated from Rosemere High School and shortly met her husband and soul mate Douglas while working for Bell Telephone. They were married in May of 1970 and embarked on an adventure of raising three boys and building the family cottage. The family relocated to Stouffville, ON in 1976 where they were soon met with an opportunity through Douglas’ employer to move to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia where life-long friendships were formed, and amazing memories were created while travelling the world. After four years abroad, the family returned to Stouffville in 1984 and relocated for the last time to Orleans, ON in 1988 to be in close proximity to extended family and the cottage at Lac Gagnon. Beatrice remained active and lived a healthy lifestyle after courageously fighting two previous battles with cancer. She enjoyed spending summers at the cottage, wine on the balcony, impromptu trips to the beach and spending quality time with family and friends. She was predeceased by her father Réal Doin and her granddaughter Claudia. A heartfelt thank you to the staff at the Ottawa General Hospital for their compassionate care. In accordance with her wishes, there will be no formal service, but an invitation will be sent to friends and family for a celebration of life when we can all safely gather. In her honour and in lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated. Épouse bien-aimée de Douglas depuis 50 ans, elle laisse dans le deuil ses trois fils, David (Michelle), Daniel (Laurie) et Matthew (Nathalie). Elle lègue un souvenir impérissable et empreint d’amour à ses cinq petites-filles, Mackenzie, Nayeli, Olivia, Elsie, Taylor, à sa maman, Marguerite Huguet-Latour, à ses sœurs Louise (Marcel), Micheline (Yvon), Françoise, Anne-Marie (Luc), et à ses frères Robert (Marcelle), (jumeau) Louis-Philippe (Lorraine), Gilles (Sylvie), Jean-Yves (Sylvie) ainsi qu’à tous ceux et celles qui ont été touchés par son sourire radieux, son approche aimable et son énergie quasi sans borne. Béatrice est née le 11 octobre 1945, à Rosemère, dans une grande famille tissée serrée. Peu après sa graduation à l’école secondaire de Rosemère, elle a fait la connaissance de son mari et âme sœur, Douglas, alors qu’ils travaillaient tous deux pour Bell Téléphone. Ils se sont unis pour la vie en mai 1970 et se sont lancés à plein régime dans l’aventure, en élevant trois garçons et en construisant un chalet familial. En 1976 la famille s’est installée à Stouffville, Ontario et bientôt, une opportunité déterminante dans la carrière de Douglas s’est présentée, sous la forme d’un contrat de travail à Riyadh, en Arabie Saoudite, où des amitiés durables se sont soudées et grâce auquel de merveilleux souvenirs de voyages à travers le monde ont été forgés. Après quatre ans à l’étranger, la famille est retournée à Stouffville en 1984 et s’est relocalisée pour la dernière fois à Orléans, Ontario, en 1988, afin de se rapprocher de la famille et du chalet au Lac Gagnon. Béatrice était une femme active et elle avait opté pour un mode de vie sain après avoir combattu avec courage deux épisodes de cancer. Elle aimait passer l’été au chalet, savourer un verre de vin sur le balcon, faire des allers-retours à la plage et passer du temps de qualité avec sa famille et ses amis. Béatrice est allée rejoindre son père Réal et sa petite-fille Claudia dans l’au-delà. Nous remercions du fond du cœur le personnel de l’Hôpital Général d’Ottawa pour les soins remplis de compassion prodigués à Béatrice. En accord avec ses dernières volontés, il n’y aura pas de cérémonie formelle. Une invitation sera acheminée aux parents et amis, pour célébrer sa vie, lorsque les conditions sanitaires le permettront. En sa mémoire, au lieu de fleurs, un don à la Société canadienne du cancer serait apprécié.
